Charles Taylor interview podcasts

July 6, 2011 § Leave a Comment

My second daughter was born a few weeks ago, and I have been spending a lot of time doing home renovations to get her room ready and other things squared away. That gives me some quality time to listen to podcasts. I just finished the five hour CBC ideas feature on Charles Taylor entitled ‘The Malaise of Modernity’ (get it while you can here). It provides a very accessible introduction to Taylor’s life and work, starting with his childhood growing up in Quebec, to his discovery of Merleau-Ponty and Herder, to his involvement in Canadian politics (he ran for the NDP and lost against Trudeau in the 60s), to his views about his Christian faith, to a discussion of his massive 2007 book ‘A Secular Age’. Now I’ve got to find something else good to listen to while I work on wainscotting!

Where Am I?
